It's Been A While...

since I last posted. I've been working a lot, and sleeping during the day. And, my son was at a concert a few weeks ago, got kicked in the ankle, and wound up with a broken ankle, which necesitated surgery, five screws and a plate in his ankle. And, he has a cast and is on crutches for a while.

I've been trying to figure out my next knitting project. I finished the Cherry
Tree Hill socks, and I have the second sock of the Lorna's Laces sock started. But what to do next? I want to get finished with the Philospher's Wool sweater that I started last year. Actually, I started two of them - one for me and one for Chris. I want to get working on his, first. I still want to work on Audrey, from Rowan.

However, since I've been working so much, things have sort of gone to hell in a handbasket around here.
I don't mind working nights, but when you sleep in the day, and wake up at 3 pm, it doesn't leave much time for doing things. And, I still find it hard to clean at night, so I don't do as much as I should, obviously.

Here's some proof: This is my family room, which is in dire need of a good cleaning. I started tonight after I took these pictures, and I will continue tomorrow. I have a meeting right in the middle of the day, but I can work on it some more when I get back.

Fall seems to be more or less over. We have had several storms in the last week and a half, and they pretty much finished off what little fall color we had this year. The only exception seems to be my japanese maple, which turned a brilliant orange after everything else was de-leafed, and the sky. The sunset is from Nov. 10, and I think it was amazing.

Anal Retentive? Who, me??

Well, I almost finished my Cherry Tree Hill socks for Soctoberfest. I started the second sock of the pair on Saturday night, and knitted like a fiend. By Monday afternoon I was working on the heel flap. All was well. That is, until I checked my progress by putting this sock up against its finished mate. Uh-oh. That's when I noticed that the hem for the picot edging was a full three rows short of the first sock. Crap. I tried to ignore it, and kept on knitting on the heel flap, but after a few rows, I knew I couldn't live with it and frogged it. So ended my knitting for the night. And, as luck would have it, I worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, so I didn't make much progress. I am, however, turning the heel. I work tonight and tomorrow night, so maybe on Monday or Tuesday, I'll be done.

Here's my Saturday Sky picture for today. We have a beautiful blue autumn sky today, along with beautiful, not-terribly-chilly temps. Really nice. Earlier this week, it was in the high 60's, and I opened all the windows again. I love fresh air. We had a storm a couple of nights after that. I was coming home from an on-call assignment at 4 am, and it was like driving on ice. The roads were covered with wet, slippery leaves.

I have been rummaging around in the UFO pile. It's time to start working on some warmer sweaters again. This is a sleeve of a Philosopher's Wool sweater.
I started making this for myself, and then realized the colors, while wonderful, weren't really for me. Chris loved it, so it will go to him. I have one in greens, greys, purples, and navy that I'm making for myself.

Been doing a little stash enhancement lately. I have a new philosophers wool kit in beautiful blues and lavendars, which, as you can see, Gremlin also loves. I guess the colors complement his fur.
I have some more Cherry Tree Hill for socks, too. One of the pictures really didn't come out at all - the colors are nowhere near real life, so I'll do that in my next post.
